Block Island's only beachfront location meets cheerful, vintage inspired rooms—some with balconies overlooking the sea, others with village views prime for people watching, and all with carefully curated, modern amenities. Located right in the center of town, our charming front porch, sandy backyard, and expansive ocean views make Block Island Beach House the perfect home base for exploring the island or just enjoying the simplicity of summer.
Guest room decor in our original Surf Hotel building is inspired by a daydream of an easygoing, wistful getaway to laid-back Block Island. We commissioned artist Matt Schwartz of She Hit Pause to create the original artwork found in each guest room against a backdrop of intentionally minimalist artistic decor. By pairing Schwartz' custom photographs with one-of-a-kind antique oriental rugs and vintage surfboards from the 1960s and ‘70s, our aim is to capture the iconic essence of a Block Island summer.
The laid-back vibe of Block Island means beach attire is acceptable any time of day—think sundresses, board shorts, and flip flops. With storage at a premium in our guest rooms, packing light is key—but don't worry, the location and the views are second to none, and we can guarantee you won't mind a cozy spot to retreat to at the end of a long day of exploring the island and beaches.
